Just like her husband, Sakshi too mostly keeeps away from the paparazzi. However, she is often caught on the camera during the IPL season as she is seen supporting her husband and his team.
Due to her frequent appearances at 'Chennai Super Kings' matches, she was dragged into the IPL match-fixing scandal, but nothing could be proved against her, and she handled the entire episode with grace. At present, Sakshi is enjoying her glorious motherhood, parenting her little munchkin, Ziva.
Childhood & Education
Sakshi was born Sakshi Singh Rawat on November 19, 1988, in Lekhapani town in Tinsukia district, Assam, India. Her father, R.K. Singh, was working for the Kanoi Group’s 'Binaguri Tea Company.' Her mother, Sheila Singh, is a housewife. Her family moved to Dehradun as her grandfather was working there as a divisional forest officer. She grew up at dehradun along with her brother Akshay and sister Abhilasha.
Sakshi received her pre-primary education at Lekhapani. The now famous Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was Sakshi’s classmate at Lekhapani. Sakshi continued her education at Welham Girl’s School in Dehradun and later completed her schooling from Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi.
She holds a degree in hotel management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad. She did her internship at Taj Bengal, Kolkata, where she met her future husband.
Love Story of Sakshi & Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Their actual love story is slightly different than what has been shown in the biopic of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They did meet at the hotel, as shown in the film, but they were introduced to each other by the manager and their common friend, Yudhajit Dutta.
Dutta had organized a farewell party for Sakshi as it was her last day of internship. Before throwing the party, Dutta had invited Dhoni too, and that’s how they first met. Dhoni took her number from Dutta and started texting her. Sakshi ignored the messages initially, thinking that it was a prank played by one of her friends, but was completely awestruck when she came to know the truth. They eventually stepped into a romantic relationship in March 2008.
Sakshi attended his birthday party the same year. Since Dhoni could not spend much time with her due to his preoccupation with friends, he drove her back to her place to make up for it.
They thoroughly enjoyed their courtship and also somehow managed to keep it a secret. They then decided to get married after seeking the permission of their respective family members.
The Fairytale Wedding
The engagement ceremony was held on July 3, 2010, at 'Hotel Competent' in Dehradun. Their wedding took place two days later at 'Vishranti Resort' near Dehradun. Many of Dhoni's friends from sports, politics, and film fraternity attended the wedding and blessed the couple. For the wedding, Sakshi wore a gorgeous red and green lehenga, designed by the ace bridal designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The Lucky Charm
Dhoni’s already successful career skyrocketed when Sakshi came into his life. After the wedding, he won two of the topmost championships, including the ICC World Cup 2011. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ziva in February 2015.A Private Person
Sakshi has always stayed away from the paparazzi. The only time she is captured on camera is when she is at a cricket stadium or while attending any important event. However, she is very much active on her social media accounts and keeps posting photos of her daughter. Sakshi enjoys cooking so much so that she carries an electric cooker every time she flies abroad with Dhoni for his tournaments.
