Software Development Needs Not Just Skills, Know What's More Important!

Software development is beyond basic coding, it requires much more than just effort and sincerity. Isn't it?
The software development process begins with writing the code, examining the requirements and objectives, then designing what needs to be coded, followed by a confirmation that what is developed has met its objectives. It requires precision, needs one to be meticulous, and thoughtful as to what one wants from the software being developed as an output.

While most of the time, we can't test everything and prefer "trial and error" method in life, college life certainly gives us the privilege to test our limits by participating in college fests and hone the skills needed to succeed in life. The time spent in college not only prepares us for life but gives us that competitive edge and the courage to face problems.

Here are a few required skills that we get to earn by participating in college competitions.

Time Management

Time management skill is essential in every aspect of life, and when we are talking about software development today, its relevancy seems so crucial. Through college competitions, students embrace the art of time management or further develop their skills in the same arena to win.

Mock Preparations

In real life scenarios, there's scope for mistakes. Let's just put it in corporate terms; you may not get any second chances to make things right again. But, in college competitions, your algorithmic skills (in technical respect) improve and are tested through mock rounds. Having an experience of mock interviews helps you prepare for life and face the real ones.

Design

One of the most critical parts of developing any product, how will it look! When in college, you can always opt for a design which suits you the best without worrying about anybody else's opinion. This, indirectly, gives you an upper edge when you step out in the real world. To have the liberty of doing what you want is the biggest privilege which college competitions provide you with.

The aim of this competition is to provide all the aspiring coders with a platform where they will be asked a question based on the real-life scenario to judge their coding and thinking skills. The competition will start on 12th of March 2018 and will end on 28th of March 2018 with the declaration of winners.

It comprises of three rounds which ingrain the skills mentioned above. The second round will be conducted at SRM University Campus (KTR).
